Create Scenes to Simplify Tasks in Your California Home

Today’s smart home automation systems are customizable, meaning you can create scenes on your own for both special and simple occasions every day. In the past, your smart home had fixed programming. Only your smart home installer could re-program it to change to new settings. But now with Control4, you can go into the system yourself and easily select your settings and save them for instant actions or for future use. With all of that freedom, you have a lot of opportunities to save energy, have fun, and plan for important meetings. Continue reading to get some of our ideas on the most commonly used smart home scenes in the San Diego, California area.

Good Morning

The morning is the most crucial part of your day, so it’s important to start the day right. If you have a hard time waking up, a smart home system can definitely help. Schedule your multi-room music system to turn on your favorite song right at 6 a.m. The volume won’t scare you, but gradually raise to a medium level. At the same time, your motorized shades will go up, your flat-screen TV will appear behind your bedroom art work and turn on the morning news so you can catch the traffic and weather report. If you have kids and need to get them ready for school, you can create scenes for their bedrooms as well. Let them pick their wake-up song, and then check in on them as they get ready for school. If your daughter is running late, pick up your tablet and flash her bedroom lights to alert her she has 5 minutes to get downstairs.

Away

Whether you are leaving on a long vacation to New York or simply leaving the house for work, your own away scene is very practical for everyday use. Integrate your security system into the scene so that when you hit the “Away” button, the security system arms, all of your shades lower, the lights all turn off, the thermostat goes up to save electricity, and all of the doors lock. If you leave the house for a long period of time, you can even schedule certain features to run at random to make it appear the house is lived in. The shades will go up and down at varying times, and you can even program the TV to come on at night for a few hours.

Pool Party

There’s nothing more California than a pool party. Since the weather is warm for most of the year, this will be a scene you get a lot of use from. With an outdoor audio video system, you can create a music playlist with the latest singles and then add it to the scene, pick a sports channel or movie so that guests at your home bar can watch something, and then include nights if your evening bash goes late. We can even incorporate your pool and hot tub settings too so that your pool is the right temperature and the bubbles are set to a comfortable level. All you have to do is hit a button on your tablet, smartphone, or wall keypad and it’s time for an event you won’t forget.

Goodnight

You’ve just finished a movie and now you are super tired and ready for bed.  Pressing the “Goodnight” button using your Control4 smart home automation system triggers your entire home into sleep mode. The lights turn off, (except for one porch light), and the doors lock. Later on in the middle of the night, you wake up thirsty. As you walk downstairs to the kitchen, occupancy sensors turn on lights to brighten your way so you don’t trip and fall. As you make your way back to bed, the lights shut off as soon as they sense you aren’t there anymore.
